Nine substances including crotonylfentanyl designated as narcotics or precursors
- Promulgation of the amended“Enforcement Decree of the Narcotics Control Act” -



□ The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS, Minister Kim Ganglip) promulgated the amendment of “the Enforcement Decree of the Narcotics Control Act” on Jan. 5, mainly concerning the designation of nine substances including crotonylfentanyl as narcotics or precursors.

○ The newly designated nine substances include three narcotic drugs, five psychotropic substances and one precursor.

* Category is based on the Article 2 (Definition) of the “Narcotics Control Act.”


○ Also, the revised enforcement decree provides a more clear definition of phencyclidine analogues currently designated as psychotropic substances (item (a)), and added new functional groups to the scope of methcathinone analogues.


□ Through the new designation of narcotics and precursors, MFDS will prevent illegal distribution of new narcotics, ensure safety management of narcotics, and protect people of Korea from drug abuse issues.
