Proposal – P1028 Infant Formula: To revise and clarify standards relating to infant formula products comprising category definitions, composition, labelling and representation of products.


FSANZ invites written submissions for the assessment of the following proposal by 6pm (Canberra time) 5 May 2022:

Proposal M1019 - Review of Schedule 22 – Foods and classes of foods (2021): To develop a draft regulatory measure for Schedule 22 – Food and classes of foods. The proposed variation will address inconsistencies between the foods and classes of foods and crop groups, including subgroups, adopted by the Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority (APVMA) and Codex Alimentarius and the foods and classes of foods described and listed in Schedule 22. A revised Schedule 22 will provide clarity for food commodities listed in Schedules 20/21 and / or foods referenced by other standards and Schedules of the Australia New Zealand Food Standards Code (the Code).
FSANZ invites written submissions for the assessment of the following application by 6pm (Canberra time) 12 May 2022:

Application – A1244 Chymosin from GM Trichoderma reesei as a processing aid (enzyme): To amend the Australian New Zealand Food Standards Code for approval of a new processing aid, a chymosin enzyme derived from a genetically modified strain of Trichoderma reesei, for use in the manufacture of certain dairy foods.

Under the Information Publication Scheme, all applications to change the Australia New Zealand Food Standards Code, as well as submissions on applications and proposals, will be published on our website.

We will not publish any material provided in-confidence. Application documents will be published when we call for submissions. Where large numbers of documents are involved, FSANZ will make these available on request, rather than publishing on the website. Submissions are published as soon as possible after the end of the public comment period.

Withdrawn application

The following application has been withdrawn by the applicant:

Application A1189 – White mineral oil as a processing aid for dust suppression in grain: The purpose of this application is to allow for white mineral oil to be used for dust suppression in grain handling at a level not greater than 200ppm.?
Amendment to Standard 1.4.2 – Maximum Residue Limits (MRLs) [Australia only]

The Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority (APVMA) has notified FSANZ of applications or variations to the APVMA MRL Standard that the APVMA considers will likely result in variations to Schedule 20 of Standard 1.4.2 if they are granted.

Calls for public comment – Proposed variations to Standard 1.4.2

The APVMA has called for public comment on a number of proposed variations to Schedule 20 of Standard 1.4.2. Information can be found on the APVMA website.
