Gov. Cuomo and state environmental officials on Saturday called on the federal Environmental Protection Agency to be crystal clear when it comes to drinking water.
Cuomo wants the EPA to establish a maximum contaminant level for 1,4-dioxane in drinking water — and said that if the feds don’t act the state will begin the process of regulating the man-made chemical.
Dioxane, found in a number of laundry detergents and other products, is a known carcinogen.
Cuomo met Saturday with health and environmental leaders on Long Island.
