[Australia] IFN 12-16 ; Amending the profile question for ready-to-eat cassava chips (2016-08-31)
  • Registration Date 2016-09-01
  • Hit 619

Purpose

The purpose of this notice is to advise brokers and importers of ready-to-eat cassava chips about upcoming changes to the profile question for ready-to-eat cassava chips.

What has changed?

From 7 September 2016, the following amended Community Protection (CP) question will be applied to goods lodged in the ICS:

IFIS: ARE THE GOODS READY-TO-EAT CASSAVA CHIPS, CASSAVA CRISPS, CASSAVA CRACKERS OR CASSAVA SNACKS? SWEET CASSAVA IS ALSO KNOWN AS TAPIOCA, MANIOC, MANDIOCA, AIPIM OR YUCA?

The lodgement question has been amended to clarify the alternative names for sweet cassava for which the scientific name is Manihot esculenta Crantz.

The department anticipates that brokers will be able to respond to the amended question based on the information already available.

This change will ensure the ready-to-eat cassava chips classified as risk food are referred for inspection and analysis under the Imported Food Inspection Scheme.
