Consolidated drug information now available on website

KFDA announced that it has deployed an online drug information service (drug.kfda.go.kr) on 12th March, which the consumer, healthcare professionals and pharmaceutical companies can retrieve and utilize variety of drug information from.

The user-friendly website serves consolidated drug-related information at a glance, targeting at consumer, experts, and company to cater different information needs.

The website is packed with useful information on safe use of drugs, drug safety, assistance for drug development, pharmaceutical excipients, etc., and it also contains ‘natural-language processing’ feature in which the corresponding drugs are made available when illness or disease is typed under the ‘Drug Effects’ tab.

In addition, various information and material regarding KFDA approval, Health Insurance Review and Assessment Service, and Korea Pharmaceutical Information Center are available for check under the search results.

The website is part of KFDA’s efforts to more actively promote safe and effective use of medications by enabling easier access of the public to drug related information including its side-effects, recommended dosage and special precautions. In January, KFDA initiated mobile phone application that provides drug related information and is to further expand relevant information service.
