[USA] TTB proposes amendments to the wine treating materials and related regulations (2016-11-22)
  • Registration Date 2016-11-29
  • Hit 465

On November 22, 2016, TTB published Notice No. 164 in the Federal Register proposing to expand the authorized list of wine treating materials and amend other regulations pertaining to the production of wine. TTB regulates wine treating materials to ensure that the cellar treatment of natural wine is consistent with good commercial practice. These proposed amendments are in response to requests from wine industry members for greater flexibility in wine production.

Most of the subject wine treating materials were previously administratively approved for use. This rulemaking will determine which of them are added to the list of authorized wine treating materials in TTB's regulations at 27 CFR 24.246.

You may submit comments on the proposal, and view copies of the proposed rule and any comments TTB receives about it, online at the "Regulations.gov" website within Docket No. TTB–2016–0010. A link to that docket is posted on the TTB website on the wine rulemaking page under Notice No. 164. Please see Notice No. 164 for information on alternative methods for submitting comments.

Comments on this proposal must be received on or before January 23, 2017.
